KremsAlarm is the flood warning app for Kremsmünster.

It helps users become aware of potentially dangerous water levels so they can respond early. The app loads the current Krems water level at regular intervals and sounds an alarm if the warning level is exceeded. An audio signal, vibration alarm and a message are output on the screen.

The app also allows interactive browsing of historical water level data.

Since the last version there has also been a widget for the home screen so you can always know the current water level - without having to start the app!

Advantages:

* Push instead of pull: data is delivered/displayed exactly when it is needed. Repeated manual visits to a website are not necessary.

* Easy expandability for measuring stations throughout Austria

* permanent availability

* Warning level height, update frequency (among others) can be set by the user

* very low data/battery consumption

KremsAlarm allows preventative flood protection for every citizen based on freely available data!
